Windsor Public Library is proud to announce that we are a part of Listen Up! Vermont, a downloadable audio book service. To offer this, we have teamed up with approximately 80 other libraries in the state of Vermont through the Green Mountain Library Consortium. By joining this consortium, we have been able to offer this service for a considerable savings, thus conserving taxpayer dollars.
So, what is it and how do we do it? Listen Up! Vermont allows library patrons to download audio books from the comfort of your home or office 24/7. Currently, the website (http://www.listenupvermont.org) has approximately 250 books available for download. More books will be added, so check back often. If you are already a member of the library, please bring your borrower card to the library so we may attach your personalized access number to the card. Once you have the number, you can download up to 2 books for a 7 day period of time. Those books can be listened to on your computer, burned to a CD (if applicable), or put on an mp3 player. At this time, the software needed to be installed will not work on all Macintosh computers and cannot be downloaded to an iPod.
If you should have more questions as to what this is, how you can do it with dial up service, or any other questions you have, please don’t hesitate to call us and we will do our best to answer all your questions.
The library is open Monday and
Wednesday from 9 am to 8 pm, Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturday from 9 am
to 1 pm. For information or questions,
please do not hesitate to call the library at 674-2556 or send an email to windsorlibrary@comcast.net.
