WINDSOR
PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES $45,000 IN GRANTS FOR LIFT INSTALLATION AND
ACCESSIBILITY PROJECT
WINDSOR,
VT – (February 5, 2021) – The Windsor Public Library is proud to announce that it has
been awarded grants from 3 different foundations towards its Lift Installation
and Accessibility Project: $25,000 from the Christopher & Dana Reeve
Foundation, $10,000 from the Mascoma Foundation, and $10,000 from the Jack and
Dorothy Byrne Foundation. These funds will be used to install a lift in the
library, redo the stairs to the basement, and make the bathroom ADA-compliant,
so that finally the library’s children’s room, bathroom, historical records
room and meeting room will be accessible to everyone.
Following is
some information on each of these foundations.
$25,000 was
awarded as part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National
Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) 2020 2nd Cycle Direct Effect Quality
of Life grants. Fifty-one grants totaling $925,492 were awarded. The Quality of
Life Grants Program supports nonprofit organizations that empower individuals
living with paralysis. Since the Quality of Life Grants Program’s inception,
more than 3,300 grants totaling over $32 million have been awarded. Funding for
this new cycle of grants was made possible through a cooperative agreement with
the Administration for Community Living (ACL grant #90PRRC0002-03-00).
The Reeve
Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center has several grants under the
Quality of Life program awarding grants in different category areas, varying in
different amounts. The Direct Effect Quality of Life grants program
organizations up to $25,000 to support a wide range of projects and activities
that will clearly impact individuals living with paralysis and their families.
The Mascoma Bank Foundation provides capital funding
to not-for-profit organizations that will contribute to the long-term benefit
of its communities. Each year, the Bank and the Mascoma Bank Foundation donate
more than $1 million to hundreds of area organizations.
The Jack and
Dorothy Byrne Foundation generously supports nonprofit organizations in the
Upper Valley.
The Windsor
Public Library is honored to receive these grants and is so grateful to the Christopher
& Dana Reeve Foundation, the Mascoma Foundation, and the Byrne Foundation
for helping our library better serve our patrons and community members.
