Genealogical Research
There are some great free online genealogical resources out there. Here are a few of them.
- Vermont residents can research Vermont birth, marriage, and death records from 1909 through 2008 on Ancestry.com for free by signing up for a myVermont.gov account. Find information about accessing these records at VTLIB’s Genealogy page.
- You can search for records and create your family tree from FamilySearch’s extensive database at http://FamilySearch.org.
- The Library of Congress has digitized hundreds of historical newspapers, including 11.5 million Vermont newspaper pages from 70 Vermont newspapers spanning 1836-1924. Access the fully searchable content on the Chronicling America website.
